Art can touch and transform in ways that reports, and policy discussions often cannot. My artistic practice focuses on storytelling and collective creation. Working with communities, I explore themes such as identity, humanity, inclusion, and decolonisation.

Rather than producing art about people, I seek to create processes through which people become co-creators of their own narratives and representations. The process itself is often as important as the outcome. My work is driven by meaning and sensitive to context. This implies that choices regarding materials, forms of expression and collaborations depend on what is needed and possible in the situation at hand. Likewise, questions such as where and how to exhibit, whether the work should travel or stay behind, whether to sell or to gift are all answered in the service of impact and ethics.

Recent projects include ‘If Objects Could Speak’, in which I have sought to give voice to objects from the Dutch colonial past in Indonesia, and work with the Sub-Saharan community in Tangier, Morocco, focused on acknowledging and celebrating their presence, while simultaneously cocreating tales of migration.
